Alvanon, an apparel consultancy firm, is launching MOTIF, an e -learning platform to help solve the skill gap within the global apparel industry. The platform motif.ogr will provide the users online access to training, professional development and mentor from the industry professionals.
The program will initially be launched with four courses on Mechanism of Fit, Sustainability in Fashion, Apparel Costing and the Fit Form: A critical standard for product development. The three publishers for the course include Alvanon, Textile and Fashion industry training centre (TAF) and Pratt’s Brooklyn Fashion + Design Accelerator (Pratt BF+DA).
To expand its offering, the company will team up with more universities and companies to offer more courses on 3D, Sizing, Textile and Product development. Users, including industrial professors or students will be able to complete the course at their own pace with on demand videos, interactive excises and assessment.
“I’m delighted to announce the launch of MOTIF – it uses the most advanced technologies to deliver an e-learning environment that will develop and nurture the skills our industry so desperately needs and will help future proof businesses in a rapidly evolving world,” said, Catherine Cole, Executive Director, MOTIF.
To test MOTIF courses the company has enlisted the support of 50 companies, from larger brands to specialist players across the fashion supply chain, who have used its Beta version. The released platform will incorporate all the changes and modification according to their feedback.
“Technology has always been a catalyst for transformation in apparel. Alvanon’s founder Dr. Kenneth Wang was fascinated by the power of technologies to transform the world of sizing, lift limits on creativity and commerce, and open vast new horizons of opportunity,” explained Janice Wang, CEO, Alvanon.
On the completion of the course each student receives a joint certificate from MOTIF as well as the course provider.
