American performance sports apparel brand, Under Armour has roped in former Tommy Hilfiger Vice President Alessandro de Pestel as its Chief Marketing Officer, as the sportswear company is on a lookout to fill their top management roles.
In his new role as the brand’s VP, Alessandro will take charge of the international marketing strategy of the brand. He brings on board, over 20 years of high-level experience in international Marketing and Communications. Prior to his appointment at Under Armour, de Pestel was serving Tommy Hilfiger as executive VP of Marketing Communications and customer insights.
Notably, the US-based sportswear retailer has also announced the appointment of Ann Funai as senior Vice President of engineering. Funai was working as a Chief Technology Officer at PeopleAdmin prior to her appointment in Baltimore.
Funai will be responsible for the brand’s digital ecosystem, which will include its fitness applications and the international e-commerce business. She will also head engineering plans which support the blueprint, platform, and product feature set development.
Reportedly, Under Armour is working to enhance its e-commerce business in a bid to take the brand back-on-track after registering sluggish growth in sales in North America, recently post witnessing fast growth in previous years. Kevin Plank, CEO, Under Armour said in a statement that both of the new recruits will serve the company to form a deep connection with its consumers. “The diversity of their international experience and insights will enhance and advance our marketing and digital potential to deliver an even more seamless experience to our consumers whenever and wherever they engage the Under Armour brand,” said Kevin.
