Ascena Retail Group raises US $ 5.9 million for breast cancer awareness

US-based women’s apparel retailer Ascena Retail Group has raised US $ 5.9 million with its retail brands for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) to spread awareness about the disease.

Notably, the retail group has been long associated with BCRF in a bid to lend support in the life-changing research and eliminate the hazardous disease.

David Jaffe, Chairman & CEO, Ascena Retail Group cited that the company is grateful to customers and associates for their consistent dedication and contributions to fight breast cancer. “Supporting women has been at the heart of our philanthropic mission since we were established and we are setting new goals to continue to honour that mission,” David added.

It is pertinent to mark out that since 2005, collectively the American retail group has funded more than US $ 45 million in breast cancer research supporting over 180 research grants at key BCRF partner medical and academic institutions in the country.

Furthermore, BCRF’s President, Myla, Biblowit said, “Our shared goal to improve the lives of women the world over makes our partnership with Ascena truly remarkable. We are stronger together and it is this collaboration that allows us to harness the power of research to eliminate breast cancer so that, one day, we can live in a world free of this devastating disease.”

The Ascena group operates leading womenswear apparel brands such as Ann Taylor, LOFT and Lou & Grey.
