The growth of e-commerce, mobile shopping, and the urge to meet ever-rising expectations of personalisation among customers are the things that will drive the global apparel market this year. This was among the key points that came out of a webinar organised by Fibre2Fashion, the leading portal for global textile-apparel-fashion industry, on February 28.
The year 2018 has seen world apparel players witnessing store downsizings and lesser retail growth but increase in sales due to digital market presence. This effect has fuelled changes in the approach of the market players, and this trend will continue in 2019 too. As a result, there will be more emphasis on customised apparel, as well as internet retail shopping.
Another point that emerged from the webinar, presented by Fibre2Fashion’s Market Intelligence team, was that the manufacturing sector will see more technological upgradation due to factors like rising labour costs, and the arrival of new industry players posing more challenges in production and distribution.
The webinar was a huge success and for those from the textile-apparel industry who were unable to be a part of the programme, Fibre2Fashion has come out with a report ‘Global Apparel Market Outlook 2019’.
The free report includes the global apparel market size in numbers, region-wise sourcing pattern, and analyses past five years’ global apparel trade. It touches on second-hand apparel market and the upcoming fashion trends.
The top apparel brands in 2018 in terms of their financial performance are also mentioned.
