J Crew said it was facing technical difficulties with its website during the Black Friday sale after customers took to social media that they were running into errors, couldn’t load items into their shopping carts and had other issues while shopping on the website.
The sales and the huge amount of money spent on the day after Thanksgiving, makes it one of the most important days of the year for retailers.
Irate customers also tweeted at the J Crew help account about the issues. Some said they were able to browse but unable to add items to their cart. Others said they could add items but failed to pay for them, and were finding themselves losing all the items in their basket.
The main J Crew account tweeted about the issue and said “Happy Black Friday! Due to high demand, we’re experiencing some technical difficulties with our site right now. Apologies to anyone having a problem…we’re working to fix it ASAP!”
The company experienced similar issues with ordering last year during the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales as well.
Others like Lululemon and Walmart too experienced technical glitches during the sales. Experts say these problems are likely due to stores not having the sufficient infrastructure to handle increased traffic online.
