Hong Kong-based sourcing group, Li & Fung, has roped in Weizhong Zhu (“Wilson”) as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Zhu will be leading the charge of the operations across the company’s 40 plus production countries.
The new COO will be working on boosting the company’s production platforms internationally along with making sure that the KPIs remain consistent and help the brand to push ahead with its digital strategy to create a supply chain for the future.
Wilson has a vast experience of 31 years in the industry. He has previously served as a chief sourcing and production officer at Gymboree, EVP at Private Brand and global sourcing at Michaels Stores and other top executive roles at Office Depot and Hudson’s Bay.
Spencer Fung, CEO of Li & Fung cited on the appointment of the brand’s new COO that the compnay is excited to have Wilson on board as the COO of Li & Fung. This is the first time that the company has appointed a senior executive to administrate its global production network.
“With the ongoing US-China trade war, having the experience and expertise of Zhu will help us to deliver our customer the alternative sources strategies and eliminate any possible risk in the supply chain,” Spencer added.
The company is home to around 17,000 employees and is spread across 230 locations in over 40 different markets.
