Amidst ongoing trade war between USA and China, Malaysia is seeing a huge potential in enhancing textile exports to the US.
The trade dispute between both the countries has now prompted many foreign buyers to look for an alternative and Malaysia seems to have caught their attention.
The spurt in the prices of Chinese products and ever-increasing labour and production costs are keeping away many US buyers from China.
He also added that many US buyers are now becoming aware of this unbalanced dependance on China; besides lot of overseas importers have often faced quality concerns with Chinese products.
“We have received many business enquiries form existing as well as new buyers from all parts of the world including the US,” said Lee Kheang Lim, Marketing Director, Fernex Sdn Bhd. His company was participating at the Heimtextil event.
Another participant, Nature World Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, too received good enquiries. The company manufactures home textile products.
The event witnessed good participation from Asean countries, including 8 from Indonesia, 3 from Malaysia and 8 from Vietnam.
Olaf Schmidt, Messe Frankfurt Vice President, Textiles and Textile Technologies, expressed delight at ASEAN region’s potential and said that soon countries like Vietnam, Malaysia and Bangladesh would become the key players in the global textile supply chain.
