Pakistan’s ready-made textile export remained extremely sluggish during the July to November 2018-19 period.
According to the official figures released by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the country witnessed less than 1 per cent growth in the export of its ready-made textiles during the said period, with the figures touching US $ 1.02 billion.
The growth registered a rise of US $ 2.8 billion in ready-made apparel exports in the July to December period of 2018-19 from US $ 1.01 billion in the July to November period of 2017-18.
With regard to volume, Pakistan recorded a growth of 21 per cent in ready-made apparel exports from 15.3 million dozens in July-November 2017-18 to 18.4 million dozens in July-November 2018-19.
It is pertinent to note that the textile sector has not been able to perform well in 2018-19 fiscal year despite constant rupee devaluation against the US dollar.
