Santa Cruz, California – September 11, 2018 – A mammoth 14 billion pounds of trash is discarded in the oceans every year and more than 70% of plastics end up in landfills today. It’s high time that we get proactive about recycling or else doomsday is just ahead.
A surfer mom is all set to revolutionize the international fashion scene and make the world a better place to live in with her signature eco-apparel brand. Titled “MONA”, after its eco-conscious and dynamic founder, the brand has come up with high-performance apparel for women, made from recycled materials that reduce ocean and landfill waste. The company recently launched its debut collection in over 30 countries across the world and delivered products to hundreds of customers in its first week of business.
“MONA” is all about making the world a safer place to live in with premium products that are both sustainable and ethical. We represent an eco-conscious and stylish community of surfers, makers, yogis and moms who are united by their common passion for the ocean and the eternal desire to make things better for the world. “We are a visionary eco-apparel brand by the women and for the women and we believe our united effort will create positive changes in our surroundings”, stated Mona Picasso, the founder of MONA.
MONA manufactures all of its eco-friendly apparel using a high-performance breakthrough recycled fabric called Seatex™. A new class of materials, this innovative fabric is regenerated from post-consumer waste – like discarded plastics and commercial fishing nets – which are reclaimed from the ocean and other environmental sources. MONA has partnered with Italian firm Aquafilwhich uses a revolutionary regenerative process where recovered materials are thoroughly cleaned, broken down and then restored to their original purity to produce fresh yarns for Seatex™ fabric.
“Apparel made from Seatex™ fabric is extremely soft, lightweight, breathable, very comfortable and made without using new resources. Best of all, our products can be completely recycled again when you are finished using them.”
MONA just released an attractive gallery of swim bottoms, one-piece swimsuits and tops- while planning to release new designs for fitness and yoga this fall.
All of MONA’s apparel is designed by women and specifically tailored to fit comfortably in high intensity activities like surfing. The revolutionary eco-apparel collection sports vibrant stylish patterns which are printed with the most eco-friendly and sustainable processes in the industry. All of MONA’s operations, including manufacturing, are located in California. “Designing and producing locally allows us to achieve the highest standards of quality and insures that our highly skilled seamstresses are paid well and treated with the utmost respect.”
“Around 70% of the environmental impact caused by traditional apparel companies takes place at the raw materials level. We have taken a greener path, focusing on sustainable and ethical practices from materials to design to delivery. Our entire swimwear collection is manufactured from regenerated nylon reclaimed from oceans around the world. It has helped to save thousands of barrels of crude oil and prevented tons of CO2 emissions from entering the atmosphere. We even source recycled materials for our tags and packaging.”
